A Light Shines in the Darkness

Dear Friends of Fulcrum,

Last Friday, we held our 19th annual Celebration of Light virtual fundraising gala. I am blown away by the love for Catholic education that I witnessed online. We are excited to share with you that the Celebration of Light 2021 has raised $1.6 million and still counting! Your generosity has demonstrated once again the resilient and selfless nature of the Fulcrum family and our broader Catholic community.

This was my second Celebration of Light as Fulcrum’s executive director. I still remember that incredible feeling of walking into the Sheraton Grand Seattle ballroom last year and seeing 1,200 people gathered together in one room, united in purpose for a single cause. It was truly magical.

This year was no less magical, despite its challenges. In our first fully virtual fundraiser, we were still able to connect with friends and share stories about the incredible achievements happening in archdiocesan schools despite the global pandemic raging around us. Though we could not meet in person, we still united, coming together for a cause we all truly believe in—increasing access to life-changing Catholic education.

You can watch our videos here to learn more about the inspiring work of Tom and Jan O’Callahan, the 2021 Archbishop’s Awardees, and other saints who walk among us each day.

We chose “light” as the theme for the 2021 Celebration of Light because that is what all of you are. Every single person who supports Fulcrum’s mission, who joined us online and donated, is a shining light for the 72 schools and over 20,000 students across Western Washington.

John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

You are the light in these dark times. Through all the doubt and the fear that we have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, you have not wavered. Instead, you shone even more fiercely and let your light spread to those most in need. By supporting Fulcrum’s work, you have changed lives and made our future all the brighter.

There is still time to give! If you haven’t made your donation yet, please consider doing so today. Every dollar donated will help meet the needs of Catholic students, educators, and schools throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle.

I am bursting with gratitude for the generosity I have seen. What makes our community so special is the heart that Fulcrum supporters put into everything they do. Your constant and steadfast support of our cause makes all the difference.

Thank you for being our light and ensuring that Fulcrum can continue its important mission in the Archdiocese of Seattle.

Sincerely,
