20 Years of Fulcrum: Supporting St. Bernadette School in Burien

July 27, 2022

This article, originally published in the Fulcrum Foundation 2015 Annual Report, is part of our “20 Years of Fulcrum” series.

St. Bernadette Catholic School is at the very heart of the community in Burien, WA. The campus bustles with school activities, CYO athletics, parish events, and so much more. All this activity takes a toll on the buildings and grounds—and maintaining an excellent and safe learning environment comes at considerable cost.

The Fulcrum Foundation worked with the principal, Mrs. Carol Mendoza, to leverage support through an Assistance to Schools in Need grant to fund a much-needed roof repair and a Building Diversity and Inclusion grant to fund professional development to increase diversity and cultural awareness. Amici, Fulcrum’s young professionals group, gathered dozens of volunteers to complete painting and landscaping projects.

Working together to leverage support for schools like St. Bernadette is good for kids and families, builds up the Church, and strengthens communities.
