Assistance to Schools in Need
The Application Deadline for 2012-2013 school year has passed
Please check back in October 2013. If you have any questions about this program or the application process, please contact Susan Ocoma, Programs Manager, at 206.748.7988.
In 2012-2013, the Fulcrum Foundation awarded more than $550,000 in grants through the Assistance to Schools in Need (ASN) program, benefitting 19 Catholic schools in western Washington. These grants provided for the cost of emergency repairs, safety improvements, deferred maintenance, and critical operating costs in communities that need support to maintain the quality of their academic programs and school environment.
Grant Application Tips
Keep in mind that the Fulcrum Distribution Committee is hesitant to fully fund any project or expense, preferring instead to partner with the school to meet the total amount of need. The maximum amount that a school can receive is 10 percent of the total funds distributed by the program for the year. Priority is given to the following types of requests:
- Emergency expenses
- Critical operating costs
- One-time expenses
- Safety upgrades
- Deferred Maintenance
- Critical capital projects
ASN Grants are generally not intended to directly cover the following:
- Tuition Assistance
- Projects that fall within the scope of Fulcrum’s Star Grant program
- Teacher salaries
